a turtle’s eye view – the fever by megan abbott

disclaimer – i received an e-galley of this book from little, brown and company in exchange for an honest review.

deenie and gabby and lise are best friends and together they navigate the drama of a small town high school. but when lise becomes critically ill that friendship is put to the test. when more girls become ill, secrets start coming out, hysteria lays down roots, and the town itself is put to the test.

i was pleasantly surprised by the fever. i was expecting another angsty teen drama with girls being portrayed in the worst possible light in order to forward the storyline. i found a clever, compelling, and¬†eminently readable story containing characters with whom i connected and empathized. i’d never read anything by megan abbott before, but she is definitely on my list of authors to watch now.
